Staffordshire University expands the range of CSD Accredited Courses

The Chartered Society of Designers (CSD) is pleased to announce the inclusion of two new CSD Accredited Courses at Staffordshire University – BA(Hons) Future Mobility: Transport Design and BA(Hons) Product, Furniture, Ceramics.

These courses have expanded the range of design disciplines being studied within the CSD Course Endorsement Programme (CEP) emphasising the remit of the Society in representing all areas of design practice and supporting those in such diverse fields, contexts and locations.

The university’s BA(Hons) Future Mobility: Transport Design is the only course of its kind in the UK, making it a unique course to be accredited by CSD. Focusing on the changing landscape of Future Mobility, the course aims to explore trends and teach students a broad set of design and communication skills.

Similarly, the newly accredited BA(Hons) Product, Furniture, Ceramics is also the only ‘Product, Furniture, Ceramics’ course in the UK. It aims to teach students how to design and make innovative, contemporary products with high levels of craftsmanship using a diverse range of materials, processes and practical skills.

Speaking of the announcement, Frank Peters said: “CEP is not just about accrediting existing courses it is about a strategic involvement on an ongoing basis which includes monitoring, reviewing and advising to ensure the courses are delivering a learning experience that prepares graduates for a career in professional design practice. Collaborating with institutions when developing new courses is an important aspect of CEP and it has been a pleasure to see the progression of these two unique courses addressing industry needs.”

CSD has a longstanding relationship with the university, you can find more information about last year’s CEP Student Prize winners from Staffordshire University here.
