CSD announced as International Partner of Tigullio Design District (TDD)

This autumn the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD) has been announced as an International Partner of a new, first of its kind, international design event organised in the Gulf of Tigullio (in the Liguria region of Italy), Tigullio Design District (TDD).

The inaugural TDD event will take place in Spring 2022 and will centre on the whole world of marine design (from yachts, to those who design and produce nautical products and accessories, to coastal waterfront and environment marine projects), and outdoor design (from urban to outdoor furniture, to environment, sustainability, green technology and innovation projects) and encompassing lifestyle.

A new design experience in Tigullio

TDD aims to explore the professional world of design and raise the profile of the Tigullio district. It will achieve this by promoting the cultural and working values of the area; by proposing itself as a creative response to the desire for the renewal of existing local realities – such as companies, designers, artisans, young people and creatives.

The event will act as a source of inspiration and development for all international participants, and an opportunity to meet and share ideas among those in the design sector globally.

On 10 September 2021, the agenda of international partners and guests was presented online at http://www.tigulliodesigndistrict.com ; the following spring the TDD event will be held digitally.

Proud International Partner and Country Ambassador

Not only is CSD proud to announce its role as an international partner of TDD, but the Society’s Chief Executive Frank Peters FCSD CDir FIoD is also acting as a TDD Country Ambassador for the UK. Speaking of the announcement Frank said:

“It’s an honour to be appointed the UK Ambassador for such an innovative project which will see TDD becoming a major event in the international design calendar. What really excites is the scope of this initiative, embracing so many aspects of design on both land and sea, each with its own role to play in terms of lifestyle and the environment. The UK has a great heritage in design and marine design and this, coupled with the world renown passion that Italy has for design, promises to be a great showcase and collaboration which will be of huge mutual benefit to UK and Italian designers and producers, influencers and design students.”

The first TDD event topic – “What is Design?”

The event – in its first online edition- will focus on the topic “What is Design?”. TDD is inviting its national and international guests to answer this question by reporting their experience during the interviews.

The event organisers believe the need to ask such a basic and fundamental question will enhance knowledge about the discipline of design, its process, role in the business model, societal values, etc.

Over the course of the coming years, TDD will address specific macro-themes with the aim of supporting design professionals sparking fundamental and important discussions surrounding the professional world of design.
