The Society is granted a Royal Charter in recognition of its efforts since its inception, in promoting and fostering professional study and practice in design

Sir Peter Carey is the guest speaker at the CSD Minerva Dinner where the Minerva Medal was awarded to Dieter Rams for his contribution to Industrial Design

January of 1978 saw the first issue of Designer under its new editor Beryl McAlhone who declared 'Designer is an independent magazine, it's about design, for designers, by designers, on the side of designers.'
