CSD Supports Cruise and Ferry Exhibition
A groundbreaking interiors pavilion and conference will feature at Cruise + Ferry 2007 in London next April – the 12th biennial staging of the passenger shipping sector’s only trade event devoted to technical and operational issues.
It is hoped that this new pavillion will showcase the huge business potential of Interior Design.
The ‘World of Passenger Ship Interiors’ conference on April 25th & 26th has been co-ordinated by three-time British National Design Awards winner and CSD Fellow John McNeece FCSD, managing director of the McNeece consultancy, who has created interiors for many of the world’s finest cruise ships and ferries.
Among major international ship owners and designers, speakers include British fashion, textiles and TV icon Jeff Banks FCSD, a past president of CSD, which is supporting the conference.
Taking place at ExCeL London from April 24th - 26th, Cruise + Ferry 2007 marks the first maritime industry event to host a dedicated interiors forum – part of a new conference format devised by organiser Lloyd’s List Events to cater for specific interests through seven subject streams.
Complementing the presentations, the Cruise + Ferry 2007 exhibition will include an interiors pavilion for the first time in the event’s history, widening the appeal for ship owners and operators, shipyards, designers, architects, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers.
The interiors zone will highlight products such as fixtures and fittings, fabrics, furnishings and floorings and will include a presentation lounge enabling exhibitors to address buyers and designers.
Current exhibitors include Bainbridge International, Brintons, C-Marine, Chameleon Technologies, Independent Glass, Marks Pelle, Muraspec, Oliver Design Group, Trimline and Willow Tex.
Commenting on the decision to support the event, CSD's Chief Executive Frank Pters MCSD said:
" As well as being the professional body for designers and hence supporting them in their career, we are also keen to introduce designers to new and exciting opportunities that will allow them to prosper from their professional skills.
Shipbuilding and the interior design of marine craft presents is a rapidly growing market and presents an ideal opportunity for designers from all disciplines to collaborate on supplying the wide variety of design skills required by this sector.
