Audi Design Foundation Report
'Making the Most of Uk Design Excellence'
Since 1997 the Audi Design Foundation has supported UK design by spending several millions of pounds on projects that meet its charitable aims.
In order to celebrate this and publicise details of its new programme of events, a capacity crowd of designers, design educators, policy makers, journalists and industry advocats were invited to the Fifth Floor Restaurant at Harvey Nichols' on Thursday 8th February 2007.
Following a welcome by Jeremy Hicks, the Audi Design Foundation's Chair of Trustees, the evening commenced with Mike Dennis, Development Manager, giving a brief history of the Foundation.
Mike Dennis went on to explain the programme of events for 2007, including sponsorship of the Include conference, a Rough Guide to Designing Your Future, a bursary scheme in collaboration with Kingston University and major involvement in this year's New Designers event.
At this point, the evening's proceedings were handed over to Jeremy Myerson, Professor of Design Studies and Director of the Helen Hamlyn Centre at the Royal College of Art as well as being a trustee of the Audi Design Foundation, who chaired a debate to discuss the question:
'How can designers learn the skills needed to compete in the 21st Century?'
