‘Finding the Question to the Answer: A Graphic Design Research Symposium’
The issue of research in graphic design has recently been given a much-needed spotlight at, ‘Finding the Question to the Answer: A Graphic Design Research Symposium’.
This half-day symposium was co-organised by Design Research Education East Midlands with The Chartered Society of Designers and Nottingham Trent University, and aimed to ‘demystify the process of embarking on a research degree’, and ‘encourage PhD level research in graphic design and its related subject areas’.
It offered a mix of practical experiences presented as case studies as well as keynote presentations that located the role of research within the larger context of practice.
Encouragingly, the audience was comprised of not only academics and students, but also a healthy number of representatives from industry.
The event took place at Nottingham Trent University in Septmeber 2006.
