CHELSEA COURSE RECOGNISED

 

CHELSEA COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN AWARDED CSD RECOGNISED COURSE FOR INTERIOR DESIGN FOUNDATION DEGREE

CSD are pleased announce that Chelsea College of Art and Design have been awarded a CSD Recognised award for their Foundation Degree (FdA) Interior Design programme. 

This is the first vocational training programme to successfully gain the award from the professional body for design and the industry expert panel were particularly impressed with the strong creative focus and links with industry on project briefs. 

The course leader Tomris Tangaz said “we are very pleased that our work and efforts to provide strong vocational and academic training for designers has been awarded professional body recognition and we are looking forward to working with CSD in the future”.

Tim Jennings TTSP Architecture and Design, and panel member for the Chartered Society of Designers stated “the panel were impressed with the balance of creativity, professionalism, skills and knowledge the course delivers throughout its’ 2 year programme and with such a strong vocational focus it challenges students, providing them with an excellent foundation for their future design careers”

The course, delivered from Chelsea College’s Millbank site, next to Tate Britain, is equivalent to the first two years of a BA (Hons) programme and is primarily interested in fostering the relationship between academic study and the contemporary practice of interior design. It features live projects and industrial collaborations and provides strong technical, personal and aspirational skills. The CSD Course Endorsement Programme industry experts and CSD are looking forward to working with the course and its students.

 

 

 

The CSD Course Endorsement Programme is managed and delivered by the professional body for design and aims to  

Recognise professional status by mapping course content, delivery and output against the criteria and competencies of the CSD Genetic Matrix™ 

Promote professionalism throughout Design Education internationally, at all levels of learning with support from the professional body for design 

Foster understanding between education and industry to enable a strong two way flow of information and knowledge, facilitating valued Design Education 

Deliver a programme of endorsement that is not a burden for education and is supported by industry

The programme offers 3 awards: 

CSD Accredited for courses at university level qualifications in the UK and equivalent design courses internationally

CSD Recognised for courses vocationally focused programmes and all equivalent level design courses internationally

CSD Validated for courses, training programmes and CPD for design professionals

 

The Chartered Society of Designers is the professional body for design and offers 4 levels of membership into CSD – Student Member, Associate Member (Assoc CSD), Member of CSD (MCSD) and Fellow of CSD (FCSD) 

The Chartered Designer register is currently under consultation with full implementation of the status expected from late 2012
