Haliema was awarded the CSD Student Medal and a cheque for £1,000. In addition, her BA (Hons) course was presented with a wall plaque to acknowledge her work.

Winning Project: Ribbon/Narrow Fabric Project for VV Rouleaux

The brief was to develop a series of woven ribbons and trims.

The theme was the respect shown by creatures living in the oceans both for each other and for their environment.

Transparent cellophane yarns were used alongside cottons and polyesters to convey the mood of the ocean and to create the desired colour palette and fabric texture.

The technique used was double cloth weaving
