FASHION DESIGN

Abigail Briggs 
Manchester Metropolitan University

Abigail was awarded the CSD Student Medal and a cheque for £1,000. In addition, her BA (Hons) course was presented with a wall plaque to acknowledge her work.

Winning Project: Exploring Movement

For this project, Abigail wanted to explore the concept of movement and was inspired by Oskar Schlemmer, the eminent costume designer.

The inspiration for the silhouette was the circle, a continuous line of movement. Lightweight fabrics were chosen that would react with the air to create movement.

Dyes were allowed to run across the fabric to convey a sense of spontaneity, as colours move freely.
